Oldtimers Programs

The Oldtimers has developed and manages nearly 500 units of senior and family housing in Los Angeles and San Bernardino Counties. We formed a Housing Development Corporation 25 years ago. The corporation is a designated Community Housing Development Corporation in the cities of Huntington Park, Downey, South Gate, Fontana and Los Angeles County. We provide comprehensive support services in all our housing projects including meals on site, recreation, case management, and access to medical and social services.

Oldtimers serves 3,000 congregate and home-delivered meals daily to seniors at 22 nutrition sites, 13 in Los Angeles County and 9 in San Bernardino County. These programs require strategic coordination of 30 vehicles, personnel, as well as the ordering, storage and preparation of food.

Our transportation program provides services under contract to five cities.We operate 22 Vans providing trips to doctors’ offices, grocery stores, community centers and others locations for seniors and the disabled.

Oldtimers has been actively involved in the various phases for the Los Angeles Unified School District’s plans to build eighty-six schools in the next four years. Oldtimers and our parent leaders have played a pivotal role in the community outreach phase, which evolved into school siting, physical plant design and consensus-based decision-making in more than fourteen new school projects.

The Oldtimers hosts health fairs and provides periodic health screenings at The Family Center and our housing complexes.We conduct health promotions throughout the communities we serve. In 2003, we are opening a new medical clinic at our Family Center.

The Oldtimers supports and provides facilities for many arts and cultural events including ballet folklorico

classes, L.A. Salsa Kids and music lessons. We sponsor special events such as the annual Cuban Cultural Festival and Punk/Ska Concerts featuring local bands.

Oldtimers provides seniors with on-going home maintenance services – minor plumbing, electrical and carpentry repairs. We sponsor programs that promote water conservation and protection of the environment.

Oldtimers provides space and support for community groups. This includes Fuerza, Bohemia 2000, Balet Folklorico Infantil Mexico, Vision Foundation, AARP, Senior Clubs, Toastmasters, and others.

Our Family Center provides space for community meetings and we operate a technology center. We provide classes in Early Childhood Development for parents, English, Citizenship, Computer, GED, Ballet Folklorico and Martial Arts. We also sponsor recreational activities such as Pool, Bingo (loteria),Crafts, Trips and Dances for seniors.
